EXPRESSIONS OF CELEBRITIES

May 20th, 2008

Celebrities name their children a lot of weird things. Apple, Coke, Pilot Inspecktor Riesgraf (I am not making this up), Kal-El (yes, like Superman. Nick Cage is weird), Kyd, Sage Moonblood, Memphis Eve, and Banjo. Celebrities are idiots. I wouldn’t name my dog something like Chicago SEO let alone my firstborn child. Can you imagine the amount of teasing Pilot Inspecktor is going to get at school all the time? Who inspects pilots anyway? And why is there a “K” in the spelling of the word? Is that supposed to hip and trendy and make it think Pilot Inspecktor is really, really awesome? And how about Sage Moonblood? Can you imagine ever having an accountant or a lawyer named Sage Moonblood? At least being named Chicago SEO lets you know what that child’s going to be doing when they grow up. Well, you would know what that child will be doing so long as you know what SEO is. I know what an Apple is, I know what a Banjo is, and I know who Kal-El is supposed to be. But aren’t those names giving those children too many expectations? Should Apple do nothing but eat apples? Should Banjo play the banjo? And Kal-El? Come on. No one can be Superman.

BED AND BREAKFAST

May 19th, 2008

Rumor had it that the Bed and Breakfast we as a group were staying at was haunted. I didn’t believe it. Besides, I was too focused on the Detroit Pistons and their playing to care about some supposed ghost. I didn’t care if there was a ghost as long as it didn’t hog the remote, or worse, change to the “Lifetime” channel. I’d break its ghostly arm if it did that. The house was built in the 1800’s, and the strange thing was that we as a group checked in, but there was nobody to check us in. There was no owner present, it seemed. We had just corresponded with email, and when I had asked about payment, he — or it– wrote back and said that we could worry about that later. This was strange, as I had stayed in Bed and Breakfasts before, for work, and they always want payment in advance. Who can blame them? Tara had relatives in the Detroit area, and in Cleveland, so this was going to be a homecoming for her. I was happy for her. The first night we got there we took a walk. The old house was on about 20 acres and was on the outskirts of Ann Arbor.
